I wanted to do a revamp of my original picture [link] depicting the brother gods of thunder and fire because although I loved the original as it was a real labor of love, I felt I could now more adequately depict the epic scene in my head of Joldor and Grison taking to the field of battle.

I recently updated the look of all the amphibalite gods, bringing them closer to what I feel is a more refined product. I felt that with thier new looks and my improved skills I could do better justice to the image I have in my head. In the original I tired to hard to make a wide view of the battle and show all the detail of thier armor. Here I didnt worry so much about getting every little thing from the battle in and instead focused more on action and the two gods fighting hordes of demons in a more claustrophic way. The armor is more refined and practical, the demons look a little more streamlined, and the poses more action oriented. I also like how the effects turned out, in the original I had wanted to have Grison grabing a demon by the neck and setting him on fire with his hand (he is the god of fire after all) but couldnt get it to work and settled for him simply igniting his hand. I also wanted to have it look like Joldor was actually about to bring the hammer down but couldnt work that out either. Lastly the poses of the original were compromised by the fact I could not yet render thier heads in 3D but I have now figured out how to.
Overall, I love the way this turned out, and although I still love the original one, I think this one is far superior, and a better representation of the image in my head I am attempting to convey.

While completing this one, I looked at the messages I had hidden in the border of the original and found that I completed it on July 22, 2005, and that I would finish this one on July 22, 2008, exactly 3 years after the original, quite a coincidence. I do remember exaclty where I was when I finished the original, right here at my desk on the phone, like I spent pretty much every night that summer.

The scene is of the two brother gods Grison and Joldor, of fire and thunder respectively, fighting at the great final battle between Amphibalite kind and the god of evil, Dimacramor. Both being gods, they strode the battle field, killing foes by the hundreds at a time with thier skill and magic. The image of the two gods imspired hope in the fightened mortals beside them and they found the courage to fight on to victory. Those that fought along side these gods later came to become the first of the warrior cultists. Joldor and Grison were very lighthearted considering the dire situation and decided to have a contest between them to see who would kill the most foes. Needless to say Dimacramor was defeated and him and the remnants of his minions were banished into the western deserts, where nothing can live.
